Breath Made Visible

Auszeichnungen & Kritiken

Best 2010 Documentary Film

Dance Magazine

“Packed with illuminating interviews and lyrical movement, “Breath Made Visible” portrays a woman with angels in her feet and innovation in her blood. Long may she rock.”

The New York Times

“A loving, energetically composed documentary treatment that makes a convincing case for her place in American cultural and social history.”

New York Magazine

“It's hard to overestimate the influence the dancer and choreographer Anna Halprin has had on New York dance, even though she has made a point of staying far from the city [...].”

The New York Times, Julie Bloom

“Engaging. Illustrative. The quintessential Left Coast choreographer Anna Halprin has helped push the boundaries of modern dance.”

San Francisco Chronicle, Leba Hertz

“Ms. Halprin becomes quite as rich a subject for film as Ms.Monk: another odd face, another wonderfully calm (though ardently enthusiastic) and open talker, another (and senior) artist who responds to both politics and scenery.”

The New York Times

Interview of Anna Halprin

Houston Chronicle

“While numerous dance documentaries are available on DVD, few cast off the toe shoes and dig their feet into the soil with quite the earthiness of Gerber's film. Stunningly candid, Breath Made Visible takes audiences into the heart and mind of a woman who has never stopped using dance as a means of communication -- or as a method of teaching people of all ages how to get in touch with their bodies”

George Heymont, Huffington Post

Audience Award - Mill Valley Film Festival

“Anna Halprin's remarkable life as a guiding light of experimental, avant-garde dance is glowingly profiled by filmmaker Ruedi Gerber.”

Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times
